Commemorating Yazidi Genocide

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the genocide against the Yezidis in the Yezidi-populated Shangal in northern Iraq.
“Shams” Humanitarian NGO with the support of Mr Mirza Sloyan’s son and Lalish TV organized an event dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Yezidi genocide near the Yezidi sanctuary of Aknalich, Armavir region, RA.
The event was attended by RA MP Rustam Bakoyan, RA Armavir Regional Governor Hambardzum Matevosyan, Mr Mirza Sloyan’s son Roman Sloyan and his relatives, as well as a number of representatives of the Yezidi community. They laid flowers and wreath at the memorial to the victims of the genocide committed by ISIS in Iraq, honoring their memory with silence and homage. The guests visited the tomb of Mirza Sloyan, the founder-sponsor of the Yezidi sanctuary, paid tribute to his memory, then attended the photo exhibition dedicated to the 74th genocide of the Yezidis of Sinjar, they took part in the meeting-discussion dedicated to the Day of Remembrance, calling on the superpowers and the whole world to recognize and condemn the Yezidi genocide.
